Oaxaca
The state of Oaxaca is located south-east of Mexico City and our main church is
in San Pedro, 6,000 ft up the mountain from Tlaxiaco. Pastors Tibercio and Josephina
are fruit of our ministry in one of the Baja Indian labor camps. After receiving
several years of Bible training with us they felt God leading them back to their
home town of San Pedro to witness and win their family and friends to the Lord.
Visiting teams that have come to minister among these rural Oaxacan Indians say it reminds them of what it must have been like in the time of Christ. Many come walking from the surrounding mountains to attend services.
Early in 1999 a church building was finished. The cement block was hauled up the mountain and the believers laid the foundation and raised the walls. Later a mission's team arrived to put on the roof. What a great day it was. Each week it is packed with those hungry to hear God's Word.
In February 2003 money was donated to build a two-story multiuse building right next to the church building. This was a great undertaking but they worked very hard to finish before the team arrived to put on the roof. Since then a septic and indoor bathrooms with showers have been installed. What a blessing to visiting pastors and teams. No more visiting the outhouse at night!
Each year we hold MIYH (Missions in Your Heart) training conferences for the pastors and leaders in our churches and other churches networking with us. Each night the church is packed!
If you would like to be part of a team to Oaxaca please get in touch with us. Maybe you can't go but would like to help support this effort as we continue to teach and train nationals to reach their own people for Christ.
